In this tuttle project, I was interested in working with material like tuttle might have. Rather than making something that tuttle might have made himself, I listened to him talk, got to understand his psyche and persona on what materials mean to him, internalized what those words meant to me as an artist, then my project was a result of responding to that. I do not enjoy copying an artist's style, so I re-invented something new for myself to explore, just by responding to another artists perception of working with materials. I feel this project was very successful in helping me understand that simple materials can create complex sculptures.
