Mentum Favum'(Latin for Beard Comb) were found buried in the tombs of many East-Asian travelers. They were passed down from generation to generation. This particular comb was found by archaeologists in the tomb or royal horseman. It is believed that after meals the travelers would comb their beards with the tool to clean any food particles that their beards caught. After the discovery of the travelers tombs, Mentum Favum's became popular in 18th Century Europe when people began using the tools as eating utensils. Today Mentum Favum's are used worldwide and commonly known as "Forks'".
