Pedestal Project: Puzzle Pieces
Materials used to create this piece were: Foam, acrylic paint, puzzle pieces, a dowel and hot glue. My inspiration came from how I wanted the viewer to observe the piece. Creating these multi-dimensional puzzle pieces, hanging from the ceiling, forced the viewer to walk around and observe all of the negative space that was being created by each individual piece. In addition to the observational approach, the puzzle pieces made from foam are the actual pedestal. They are holding the "artwork", whether that be the actual puzzle pieces, the acrylic paint, or both is up to the viewer to decide. My choice to not connect any of the puzzle pieces came from the thought that it would be something that was too literal, or to be expected and I wanted to keep the viewer wondering about more, or even trying to assemble all of the pieces together themselves.
